From the editor's desk!
Welcome to the latest issue of the HighTechAIDCourier.
Welcome to another issue of the newsletter. As always we are trying to
keep you up-to-date about all the things that are happening in the world
of AIDC. Again this month we have lengthened the newsletter and I hope that you
are getting some good information from it.
We are still looking to sign up that sponsor, so, if you or your company
is looking for a newsletter, gives us a call and see if we can do a deal.
While you are thinking, why don't you send the newsletter off to some of
your friends and suggest they sign up for themselves. The signup form can
be found at www.hightechaid.com.
Newsletters are becoming a problem for many people as spam filters
delete them before some people get to read them. We know of at least one
subscriber to this newsletter who hasn't seen a copy in a while as his
company's spam filter bounces it back it before he sees it. In an effort
to combat this we are looking at RSS (Really Simple Syndication) as an
alternate form of delivery. If you have an RSS reader now, you can
get the feed at www.hightechaid.com/rss/htaidc-rss.xml.
Although this is just a test at this time, the full text of the newsletter is
available. Let us know if your reader has problems.
Providing this newsletter is just a part of what we have to offer here
at High Tech Aid. When your problem needs have you overwhelmed, then you
need to get help and that is why we are here. We specialize in education,
but the spectrum of services is much greater than that. Call or email us
for more information. Visit the web site www.hightechaid.com
for more information on basic technology details as well as many other
things.
E-mail me at news@hightechaid.com
and tell us what you think. Don’t forget to send this issue to your
friends so that they can sign up for their own issue of the free newsletter
at www.hightechaid.com.
If you have news to share or info you need, let me know
at steve@hightechaid.com.

RFID Standards
We are back in the swing of things again as the summer ends. Meetings of various ANSI groups in RFID have taken place as well as some
ISO work.
At the ISO level, we held a ballot resolution meeting for ISO/IEC 18000
parts 6 and 7.This two day meeting reviewed all the comments made
about the two prospective standards and resolved all the issues. The
next move is to finalize and forward the documents onto ISO for a final
FDIS ballot. This is a YES/NO ballot and if they pass the standards are published.
For those that have been following the progress of the other parts of
18000, you know that they have got tied up at ISO before this FDIS ballot
as we make sure all the ISO formatting rules are agreed. Other than some
minor work on the titles of the documents this is now nearly complete and
i expect the FDIS ballots to start soon. With any luck we will have
published documents by February 2004.
In the U.S. the work on a Multi-Standard Reader standard has taken a
step forward as we work to create a mathematical model that will allow
us to accurately determine any problems in compatibility between
air-interfaces.
If you want more information on ISO standardization or on
any issue of RFID standardization, then email steve@hightechaid.com.
