From the editor's desk!
Welcome to the latest issue of the High Tech AIDCourier.
Wow, another jam packed edition of the newsletter. The
articles in the Wall Street Journal last month certainly seem to have
stirred up the pot again. The news has flowed thick and fast this month.
We attended the Department of Defense summit on RFID this
month. An interesting summit, confirming the DoD’s commitments to RFID. One
thing that the DoD Summit highlighted for me is that there is still a
tremendous amount of misinformation about RFID out there. If you need to be
involved in RFID and don’t know where to start, then gives us a call or send
email to steve@hightechaid.com.
Providing this newsletter is just a part of what we have to
offer here at High Tech Aid. When your problem needs have you overwhelmed,
then you need to get help and that is why we are here. We specialize in
education, but the spectrum of services is much greater than that. Call or
email us for more information. Visit the web site
www.hightechaid.com for
more information on basic technology details as well as many other things.
E-mail me at
editor@hightechaid.com and tell us what you think. Don’t forget to send
this issue to your friends so that they can sign up for their own issue of
the free newsletter at
www.hightechaid.com. If you have news to share or info you need, let me
know at news@hightechaid.com.
Technology News Briefs
RFID Standards
It was an interesting month with several ISO meetings taking place. The
work on the revision of ISO/IEC 18000-4 (2,45 GHz air interface) was taken
to the next level and has been sent out for ballot at the FCD level (need to
understand ISO procedures? Visit
http://www.hightechaid.com/standards/how_does_iso
_work.htm)
Other work accomplished during these meetings was:
• Report on the need for Mobile RFID applications.
• An update on ISO/IEC 24791 and the structure of the document (Radio
Frequency Identification (RFID) for Item Management - Software System
Infrastructure –).
• The formation of a new group to look at helping to identify issues in the
Regulatory environment around the world and get changes where appropriate.
• Review of the work in progress on ISO/IEC 18046 and 47 (Performance and
Conformance of RFID).
If you need more specific information on any of this work, let me know.
If you want more information on ISO standardization or on any issue of RFID standardization, then email

RFID experts tapped to extend system for supply chain
visibility
Dulles, VA, March 14, 2007 – ODIN technologies, the leader
in the physics of RFID for solution design, deployment, and optimization
software, announced today that Shaw Industries Group, Inc., the world's

visibility and meet retailer compliance. After proving the ROI of the supply
chain system the company is leveraging RFID across its United States
distribution network based on early pilot success. The RFID-enabled supply
