From the editor's desk!
Welcome to the latest issue of the High Tech AIDCourier.
Happy holidays to everyone. There was no issue of the
newsletter in November and this issue is a little late (or
early depending on your point of view), but it means that it is the last of
the year and that 2007 is rapidly approaching. So how did your 2007 go? Does
2007 look better, worse or different? Here at High Tech Aid we have had an
interesting year with a few epiphanies.
After twelve years of "playing" with RFID, I had thought
that we had covered RFID education fairly well and that part of my life was
going away. Boy was I wrong. In the past few months I have seen several
cases where companies looking to be involved in RFID really did not
understand the capabilities the technology has. Worse, they had pre-formed
ideas that were very wrong.
Have we failed as an industry to recognize that our
customers have not evolved with us? Is it that we have failed to recognize
that we have new customers inquiring about the technology? Or is it that we
have progressed to a stage where we are just not explaining in so much
detail and we are causing an issue.
On the other hand, we are still seeing a lot of PowerPoint
presentations from companies about RFID with vague promises of the future.
Let's make 2007 the year we start to show real product and meet real
expectations. I expect that 2007 will be the year of large closed loop
applications going live and we need to start showing the capabilities to
those who do not understand.
We are still looking for another sponsor for the newsletter,
so if your company would like to be a sponsor, please give me a buzz at
editor@hightechaid.com.
Providing this newsletter is just a part of what we have to
offer here at High Tech Aid. When your problem needs have you overwhelmed,
then you need to get help and that is why we are here. We specialize in
education, but the spectrum of services is much greater than that. Call or
email us for more information. Visit the web site
www.hightechaid.com for more
information on basic technology details as well as many other things.
E-mail me at
editor@hightechaid.com and tell us what you think. Don’t forget to send
this issue to your friends so that they can sign up for their own issue of
the free newsletter at
www.hightechaid.com. If you have news to share or info you need, let me
know at news@hightechaid.com.
