From the editor's desk!
Welcome to the latest issue of the High Tech AIDCourier.
A short month in newsletter time this month because we were
so late last month. The Baird RFID Monthly report for June stated that news
of RFID was starting to become prevalent again in the mainstream press. We
did not see a large drop off in the amount of news recently, but even for
this short month, you will see that there is plenty happening.
You will see a couple of changes this month. We lost one of
our sponsors, so if anyone would like to sponsor the newsletter, please send
me an email, editor@hightechaid.com.
As a means to help support the newsletter we have added some "Ads by Google"
in a couple of places.
Providing this newsletter is just a part of what we have to
offer here at High Tech Aid. When your problem needs have you overwhelmed,
then you need to get help and that is why we are here. We specialize in
education, but the spectrum of services is much greater than that. Call or
email us for more information. Visit the web site
www.hightechaid.com for more
information on basic technology details as well as many other things.
E-mail me at
editor@hightechaid.com and tell us what you think. Don’t forget to send
this issue to your friends so that they can sign up for their own issue of
the free newsletter at
www.hightechaid.com. If you have news to share or info you need, let me
know at news@hightechaid.com.

RFID Standards
After last month's Plenary in South Africa, the meeting schedule for SC31
has slowed a little. The WG5 group responsible for Real Time Locating
Systems had a meeting in Berlin Germany. The group worked on the Ballot
Resolution for the new part of ISO/IEC 24730 – Part 5 2.4 GHz Chirp Spread
Spectrum systems. All of the comments for the NP and the CD ballot were
resolved and the document was sent back for a second CD ballot after the
project editor revises the document.
If you want more information on ISO standardization or on any issue of
RFID standardization, then email
steve@hightechaid.com.

ODIN technologies Releases the First Benchmark of European
RFID Readers
Seven ETSI compliant RFID readers pitted head-to-head in
the lab and the real world
Dulles, VA, June 27, 2007 – ODIN technologies, the leader in
RFID research, design and deployment services, today released the industry's
first benchmark of European RFID Readers. The European RFID Reader
BenchmarkTM compares performance of the seven leading ETSI-compliant ultra
high frequency (UHF) RFID readers in both a controlled laboratory setting,
and then in real world settings. The report is the first handbook to guide
European end users in the optimal technology choice for their RFID programme.
ODIN technologies does not manufacture RFID readers, tags or printers, and
the company maintains strict independence in testing all RFID gear,
therefore the report provides critical insight unavailable to end users any
place else.
