From the editor's desk!
Welcome to the latest issue of the High Tech AIDCourier.
The readership of the newsletter continues to grow, but it
has been a while since we asked you to forward a copy to your friends and
co-workers and invite them to sign up for a free copy.
This month saw the RFID Journal Live show in Orlando Fl. It
was a good show with plenty of people to meet. I did not see anything
exceptionally new or different, and I saw some of the old “lies” still being
quoted by some RFID companies. However, everyone I talked to was pleased
with the show and the turnout.
The news for RFID in particular this month has seen another
step up in volume. In writing the newsletter this month, I reviewed over
12,000 items on RFID alone. Much of it was not new, or was re-writes of
other items, but I hope that we have captured the key items for you below.
When I was at RFID Journal live, I ran into an old friend
and he told me that he has just put up a new web site for people that are
looking for a job or looking for people in the AIDC arena. AIDCJobs.com (www.aidcjobs.com)
could be the answer to the person you need or to your future career. Give it
a try.
Providing this newsletter is just a part of what we have to
offer here at High Tech Aid. When your problem needs have you overwhelmed,
then you need to get help and that is why we are here. We specialize in
education, but the spectrum of services is much greater than that. Call or
email us for more information. Visit the web site
www.hightechaid.com for
more information on basic technology details as well as many other things.
E-mail me at
editor@hightechaid.com and tell us what you think. Don’t forget to send
this issue to your friends so that they can sign up for their own issue of
the free newsletter at
www.hightechaid.com. If you have news to share or info you need, let me
know at news@hightechaid.com.

Magellan Technology tracks diamonds for New York Diamond
Merchant
Favorite Diamond Inc. of New York, a large diamond
manufacturing company with multiple factories, offices and storage
facilities, uses Magellan’s PJM StackTag® technology for efficient tracking
of diamonds.
Sydney, Australia – Thursday, April 19, 2007
Favorite Diamond Inc., New York, a large diamond
manufacturer uses an RFID system based on Magellan’s PJM (Phase Jitter
Technology) RFID technology to manage and control its diamond inventory.
With the help of Magellan’s RFID the time and effort needed to frequently
inventory and count all diamonds in small envelopes has been reduced
dramatically – from several days each month down to a couple of minutes
using minimum labor. The Magellan RFID system was installed by Klein
Brothers Computer Services, Inc. and uses PJM StackTag® RFID labels and the
Small Batch Tunnel Reader MTR-1310 from Magellan Technology complying with
the worldwide RFID standard ISO/IEC 18000-3 Mode 2.

Magellan Technology releases a high performance PJM RFID
reader MARS-24 with 24 antenna ports
The new MARS-24 (Multi Antenna Reader System) complies with
the global RFID standard ISO/IEC 18000-3 Mode 2 (PJM) and uses the full
performance of Magellan’s PJM (Phase Jitter Modulation) RFID technology. Up
to 24 antenna ports can be used to connect different antennas realizing even
the most complex identification solutions.
Sydney, Australia – Monday, April 23, 2007
Magellan Technology announces the new high performance
reader MARS-24 on the occasion of the Interphex 2007, the largest
pharmaceutical show held in New York from April 24 - 26 at the Jacob K.
Javits Convention Center. The MARS-24 (Multi Antenna Reader System) uses the
full performance of the PJM RFID protocol standardized and published in ISO/IEC
18000-3 Mode 2 and achieves real identification rates exceeding 600 tags per
second. The MARS-24 works with all PJM ItemTag® and PJM StackTag® labels and
operates as a full stand alone network reader device containing a powerful
ARM9 processing platform and full Ethernet and USB connectivity. The 24
antenna ports of the MARS-24 offer maximum flexibility to connect from a
single antenna up to 24 independent reader antennas. Antenna arrays can be
used to implement single-axis or complex multi-axis identification stations.
This makes the MARS-24 the perfect RFID device for use in the pharmaceutical
supply chain; in medical and life sciences; in document management; and in
the real time identification of gaming tokens in casinos and other similar
high value applications.

TURNOVER DEVELOPMENT FOR NEDAP OFF TO A GOOD START IN 2007
Compared to last year, most market groups of the N.V.
Nederlandsche Apparatenfabriek “Nedap” achieved a higher turnover during the
first four months of 2007. The development in turnover even exceeded all
expectations. However, due to the highly project-based character of the
turnover, it is difficult to estimate to which extent this trend will continue
during the coming months. Thanks to early anticipation of new market
opportunities, an increasing sales force, and constant attention to Nedap’s
distinctive capacity, management does not at present foresee any problem to
impede the progression of long-term growth.
