Technology News Briefs
RFID Standards
The annual meeting of SC31, the committee responsible for AIDC
technologies, took place in Toronto, Canada earlier this month. The meetings
were very successful with five full days of standards work. The attendance
was good with more than 50 representatives from 15 countries around the
world.
The meetings were mostly RFID and data syntax based, but the Plenary
received reports from all of the various work groups. In the last year two
new standards have been published, 15 projects have advanced to Final Draft
International Standard (FDIS) status, and 16 New Projects (NP) have been
filed. This means that SC31 has published 40 standards since the creation of
the group in 1996.
