RFID Standards

The annual meeting of SC31, the committee responsible for AIDC technologies, took place in Toronto, Canada earlier this month. The meetings were very successful with five full days of standards work. The attendance was good with more than 50 representatives from 15 countries around the world.

The meetings were mostly RFID and data syntax based, but the Plenary received reports from all of the various work groups. In the last year two new standards have been published, 15 projects have advanced to Final Draft International Standard (FDIS) status, and 16 New Projects (NP) have been filed. This means that SC31 has published 40 standards since the creation of the group in 1996.

The complete program of work for SC31 can be downloaded from http://isotc.iso.org/livelink/livelink/6
