From the Editor's Desk

Steve HallidayWelcome to the latest issue of the High Tech AIDCourier.

Wow, how can another month have flown by so quickly? The leaves are falling from the trees (many are already gone here in Pittsburgh, PA) and winter is starting to poke its head out. Last week, there was snow on the ground just a few miles north of us.

This week I attended an RFID event put on by MIT in Cambridge MA. The event included some seminar sessions and a small trade show. I was there with RFIDTraxx LLC to show the new asset tracking program AssetTraxx, but we also showed DocStaxx document management. The event was well attended with some interesting people walking the show floor. There were obviously a lot of students and staff, but there were plenty of local companies viewing the exhibits as well.

This is the second university-sponsored event I have exhibited at (I helped sponsor the University of Pittsburgh event last year) and both of them have been worth attending. The event was free for the attendee, very inexpensive for the exhibitor and everyone benefited from the experience. If you have a local university that is interested in RFID, why don’t you give them a call and get a show going in your area and tell me about it so we can help you get some publicity. If you are interested in being involved in the second Pittsburgh event, let me know.

RFID Standards

Another quiet month as the steam builds for the meetings that inevitably take place around the holidays. Work has continued on 18000-3 and a BRM for 18047-7 identified an issue that is being reviewed by the committee.

If you want more information on ISO standardization or on any issue of RFID standardization, then email steve@hightechaid.com.
