From the Editor's Desk
Welcome to the latest issue of the High Tech AIDCourier.
Is your company keeping up with the rapid changes in
international standards that relate to RFID? Are you
aware of how the Internet of Things will affect your
business? High Tech Aid can provide detailed, customized
reporting, monitoring and meeting attendance for your
company needs. Email
steve@hightechaid.com for more information.
Spring is here in Pittsburgh and
we are enjoying the warmer
weather and the rain! Besides
some standards meetings in
Atlanta, I attended RFID Journal
Live in Orlando in the last
month.
This year's RFID Journal Live
show was significantly better
than in previous years. For me
the show started with the
pre-conference day at the
Internet of Things sessions. A
reasonable attendance, we
covered a lot of things and I
believe people went home with a
new view on the topic.
The show opened completely the
next day and I was very
surprised. Although the show
floor was obviously smaller than
previous years, it felt
different. I heard that
attendance at the show and
conference was up slightly over
last year and maybe that was
part of the difference.
I believe that the biggest
difference on the show floor was
that people seemed to be talking
about real projects and real
issues. Many companies did not
take individual booths this
year, instead sharing space with
another company. This alone gave
the show a different feel as the
opportunities for learning and
discussion were very different.
I was able to talk to some old
friends, some new companies, and
some established companies with
a new story to tell. It was a
good show and I am glad that I
was able to attend. The awards
ceremony on the last day was
interesting (see the article
below), and the winners had some
great stuff they are doing. I
was especially pleased to see Dr
Chris Diorio of Impinj win the
RFID Special Achievement award.
Well-deserved and it couldn't go
to a nicer guy.
If you are interested in the
Internet of Things, then watch
this space next month when we
will be announcing some of the
details for the conference to be
held in Las Vegas in September
as part of the AIM Expo. I
should also have details of a
new magazine on the subject.
